All eyes were on Philip Seymour Hoffman in May 2011 as he was recognised by BAFTA for A Lifetime In Pictures. Awarded both an OSCAR and a BAFTA for his portrayal of Capote in 2006, Hoffman spoke at a specially dedicated evening about his past and present films- and proved himself to be a Class A guy! Recalling some amusing antics on whilst on various sets, which got the audience chuckling, he certainly seems to have had a “real ball” working on his movies, as well as delivering some memorable performances.
Having long been part of the fabric that makes up the film industry, his latest offering sees him in his directorial debut for the film ‘Jack Goes Boating’. Speaking about the movie, Hoffman noted the hardest challenge, of both acting and directing, was how to push himself- he said, “I would go back to the monitors to look for instruction- anything, something! I was thinking, how can I be screwing up my own movie!” Despite his reservations, Hoffman is at his best in this smart, funny, love film. What a guy!
